Napmat.com began when a mom (yours truly) needed a solution to a problem.
The only challenge my son had with pre-school was... naptime. He was an adorable angel
MOST of the time, but naptime brought about restlessness and irritability. I had
purchased the vinyl Kindermat recommended by the pre-school and, as they suggested,
delivered a freshly washed beach towel at least once a week. When the teachers told me
how much trouble he had relaxing at nap time, I started looking for a solution.
The bottom line was that he couldn't rest comfortably on a vinyl mat. The surface irritated
his skin. The beach towel didn't stay in place when he tossed and turned. The mat
obviously needed a cotton (breathable) cover. While I thought a cotton cover would help,
I also considered (as I lay in bed trying to sleep), what every person needs in order to
sleep comfortably. He needed a pillow and a blanket if he was going to get into the "nap
mode", especially at school.
I tried to create something that had everything attached, so nothing would get lost.. but
removable so it could be easily washed.
Thus, the "Custom nap mat" was born.
It was the beginning of the physical realization of many ideas I've had since my son was
born. As parents, we all seem to engineer ways to overcome the challenges we face
every day. The things that make life a little easier, give us more time for our kids. What
we all want, right?
Since the custom made mats are so labor intensive, and therefore, expensive...
we decided to reach out to the "All-In-One" nap mat creators that we stumbled upon one
lucky day. These nap mats are also great products, and are mass-produced which keeps
the cost down.
Regardless of what you choose, I hope you and your child enjoy the benefits of the nap
