  • Did you get a credit card decline, and then get charged anyway?

Did you get a credit card decline (over a wrong address usually) and then see the charge show up anyway?  When a credit card comes back declined - over say the billing address not matching - the credit card company places a hold on the money.  If you get multiple declines, there will be a hold placed each time.

The 'hold' is not a real charge - it will only show as a pending charge, and then it will vanish in a few business days.  We only see the decline, we never get the money from a decline.  Since we never have possession of the money, there is nothing that we can do.

Why is this happening?  Up until a few months ago, fraudulent orders were few and far between.  We just thought that backpacks and towel wraps don't have a lot of value on the black market.  Then suddenly the floodgates opened, and we started getting orders from stolen credit cards right and left.  I guess the good news is when you get tired of your item, perhaps it is still worth a lot of money!

Credit card companies make it sound like fraud is no big deal because you don't don't get stuck with the bill.  And that is true.  The credit card company also does not get stuck with the bill, they make the merchant pay for it.  This is a large part of why credit card fraud is so rampant, it is not actually costing them anything.

We would go out of business if we filled the fraudulent orders, and then got hit for the money on top of it.

Our only option at the moment is to decline orders where the billing address is not a 'match'.  If I was in charge of the system, I would still call an address that was off by a single letter a match (since either the credit card fraudster has your billing address, or he doesn't).  But alas, it is either perfect match, or it is 'no match' and that results in a decline.

Particularly with foreign orders, we recommend paying with Paypal.  You can still use a credit card, and they are much better about taking payments.  I guess it helps that they are the upstarts and are still trying to win your business.

We are sorry for the trouble, and are always trying to make your experience better.

  • Kindermat and Daydreamer nap mat review

We recently started carrying Kindermats and Daydreamer nap mats and we want to take the time to share more about them than we can on the product pages.  Daydreamers and Kindermats are foam pads encapsulated by a heat sealed vinyl shell.  They are made in the USA by Peerless Plastics, a long time children's products company.

Since you probably don't want your child to sleep directly on the vinyl surface, we sell covers the foam pads slip into and out of.  We have both simple covers, and covers with an attached pillow and blanket.

Why are our all-in-one deluxe covers the best?
Our covers are made from top quality cottons and minky dot polyester, but you expect that.  What you may not expect is that each Kindermat cover fits all thickenesses - 5/8", 1", and 2", and each Daydreamer cover fits the 1" and 2" pad.

Plus, our covers roll up and secure with velcro.  Best of all is our large pillow.  Our pillow is 13 inches tall and 19 inches wide.  It is much bigger than most other nap mats.  Compare the pillow from a $120 nap mat (we don't sell them) versus our pillow.  Not only is it is significantly bigger, it is much thicker too.

Kindermat cover pillow versus another high end nap mat A high end nap mat pillow (left) versus Kindermat cover pillow (right)

The bigger the pillow, the more your child can move around as they sleep and still stay comfortable.  The most comfortable your child stays during rest, the less they wake up, and the better quality nap they take.

And we use the pillow to extend the usable length of the Kindermat/Daydreamer mat, which otherwise are a little short for older children.

    Are they safe?  Ours are!

You might be tempted to stop reading further at the mention of plastics and foam, as the idea of flame retardants and other nasty chemicals pops into mind.

However, Kindermats and Daydreamers are flame retardant free, and are tested to be free of over 700 chemicals banned from children's products by the State of California.  They meet the strictest government standards for child safety.  More often than not, fabric nap mats in big box stores are treated with chemicals known to cause cancer.

Our deluxe Kindermat nap mats have the best pillow! Our deluxe Kindermat nap mats have the best pillow!

Beware of other brands of foam nap mats.  This nap mat (not the brand we carry!) helpfully advertises flame retardants.  Most nap mats advertised on the web don't specifically address if they do or don't.

Nap mats free of flame retardants and other harmful chemicals should be advertised as compliant with CPSIA 2011 and California Proposition 65.

    Kindermats vs Daydreamers
Daydreamers and Kindermats are nearly the same, the main difference being size:

Kindermats measure 19" wide by 44" long
Daydreamers measure 24" wide by 48" long

Girl on Kindermat Girl on Kindermat
Girl on Daydreamer Girl on Daydreamer

The difference in size is very noticeable in the pictures above.

Daydreamers come in 1" and 2" thicknesses, and Kindermats come in 5/8", 1", and 2" thicknesses.

A number of other companies clone the Kindermat and Daydreamer.  Our covers will fit them, as long as the width is the same (19" for Kindermat, and 24" for Daydreamers) and the length is close (45" for Kindermat, 48" for Daydreamer).

By themselves, Kindermats and Daydreamers aren't really nap mats since few people I think would have their child sleep directly on a vinyl pad.  We offer both simply fabric covers where you supply a pillow and blanket, and all-one-style nap mat covers with an attached pillow and blanket for both Daydreamers and Kindermats.

With the size and thickness options, it is easy to create a nap mat for just the size and thickness you want!

Kindermat and Daydreamer nap mat length
At 44" and 48" inches, these mats might strike you as a little 'short' of the competition.  However our all-in-one covers add about 10 inches to the overall length, generally making Kindermat and Daydreamer based nap mats among the longest available.

The length is great for children! The length is great for children!

How does the foam pad get in and out?
The Kindermat/Daydreamer mat slides in and out of the cover at the bottom.  Velcro keeps the mat in until you want it out.

  • Huge Ozark Mountain Kids nap mat picture review

Ozark Mountain Kids recently came out with a new line of larger nap mats for bigger kids that are 58 inches long, and 28 inches wide.

Larger is a bit of an understatement.  I think HUGE or GIANT more accurately captures the sentiment.

They fit average sized children to about age 11-12, and the biggest children till about age 10.  I'll show you what I mean!  Two sisters aged 9 and 4 are laying side by side!

The picture below shows the original OMK nap mat (and a review of the original size is here) sitting on the giant version.  The larger nap mat is as wide as the blanket of the original design!

Sitting side by side, the larger version Ozark Mountain Kids nap mat dwarfs the original!

Only a Daydreamer nap mat comes close to the size of this line, but this nap mat is still four inches wider.  The Daydreamer looks a lot shorter, but an all-in-one style cover would add about 10 inches to the length, bringing it to just a couple inches shorter than the giant OMK nap mat.

Only a Daydreamer nap mat comes close in size Only a Daydreamer nap mat comes close in size

The nap mat is not just large, it is stuffed!  Look at the size of the pillow end!  Older children don't want to sleep on a 'little kids' nap mat, but our experience is that these look different than a traditional nap mat, and older girls and boys love them!

The Giant nap mat is very thick! The Giant nap mat is very thick!
