Four of our most popular nap mat and nap sack brands are Mint, Stephen Joseph, Ozark Mountain Kids (OMK) and Janiebee. Yes, they all great toddler nap mats with pillow and blanket.  But from just the pictures, it can be hard to see how they are different from each other, and which is best for your child. So let’s take a deeper look at each of them.

Mint nap mats

• 18.5″ x 46″
• 1″ thick
• Nylon shell
• Has a carry handle
• Attached blanket and pillow (pillow insert is removable)
Mint nap mats are the smallest of the four, but are made from sturdy nylon.  The Mint nap mat fits inside the Mint medium backpack.  This is the only nap mat where the personalization is visible when the nap mat is rolled up, and they are the least expensive of the four.  The blanket is a single layer of fleece.  This is our most popular nap mat, and we very few returns on them because they are sturdy.

• 24″ x 52″
• 1″ thick
• Blanket is a double layer of velboa fabric
• It can be worn like a backpack
• Attached blanket and pillow (pillow insert is removable)
Stephen Joseph nap mats are wider and longer than Mint's, so serve bigger children, but are about the same thickness. The fabric is a plush polyester and they are the only nap mats with such strong themes.  Some people like that the Mint nap mats have the nylon shell, which is dirt resistant compared to the velboa of the Stephen Joseph nap mats.  They are slightly more expensive than Mint, and about the same as OMK.  They are our second most popular nap mat.

Ozark Mountain Kids nap mats
Ozark Mountain Kids nap mat review is here
• 21″ x 47″
• 2.5″ thick, and feels very supportive. Great for hard surfaces!
• Has a nice carry strap
• Attached blanket and the pillow is built in and not removable.
• Blanket is a single layer of fleece

Note - we now carry the large OMK nap mats and have separate review for them

OMK nap mats are made from a very soft, plush fabric. And they are thick, and stuffed full to be supportive so are great for hard surfaces.  We can't overstate how thick (see the pictures below!) and soft these nap mats are.  Frankly, I think these are the best value for the money of all the nap mats we carry.  This brand is new to us and not as popular as more known brands, but they will be soon. Also, they are made in the USA!

Jainiebee nap mats
• 21″ x 53″
• 2″ thick so also great for hard surfaces
• Blanket is a double layer of minky dot fabric
• Attached blanket and pillow (pillow insert is removable)
Janiebee nap mats have it all - thick for hard surfaces, large for bigger kids, and cute as a button!  Yes they are more expensive, but they are large so will last your child years more than other brands!   Plus, they are designed by a trained artist who coordinates fabrics into just the cutest nap mats.  You can buy Janiebee nap mats other places, but ours are exclusive to Posy Lane – wider, close with velcro, and the blanket is open at the bottom to allow for shoes to be warn while the child is sleeping.  Janiebee nap mats are also made in the USA!

More visual compare

Janiebee and OMK nap mats are thicker, and it shows. Janiebee nap mats used to be 24" wide and are now 21" wide, so keep that in mind.  Their thickness has not changed and 21" is still a great width for older children.

Article update - Kindermat and Daydreamer nap mats
We recently started carrying Kindermat and Daydreamer mats.  We have a specific Kindermat and Daydreamer review for more information about the mats themselves.  Daydreamers and Kindermats are foam pads with a heat sealed vinyl shell.  Kindermats and Daydreamers are free of flame retardants and tested to be free of over 700 chemicals the State of California has banned from children's products.

• Kindermats measure 19" wide by 44" long
• Daydreamers measure 24" wide by 48" long

You may think they "come up short" against the competition, but the deluxe Kindermat and Daydreamer nap mat covers add 10 inches of length for the pillow, making these longer than the average nap mat.

As an example of this, a bare Kindermat is nearly the same size as a Mint nap mat.  With the addition of the pillow, the Kindermat with all-in-one nap mat cover will be about 10 inches longer than the Mint nap mat.

A Daydreamer nap mat is 5 inches wider than a Kindermat, and four inches longer.  Kindermats and Daydreamers come in thicknesses from 5/8" to 2", so it is easy to create a nap mat perfectly suited to your needs.
